A Special Day

Does a holiday fill you  with temporary joy, everlasting memories or
 brokenness from a lonely heart?
Or maybe all the above.

How blessed we are when we can gather with friends and family sharing special days.  Gathering in laughter, a meal and treasured fellowship.  Being together with varied thoughts and views, but with a common bond , one with another, a deep bond of genuine love.  Entering the day with greetings of hugs and handshakes, with smiles and looks of surprise and with words of endearment. For that short but special day, humor abounds, life's happenings are up-dated and family is re-united. A day when hearts are filled with joy and life long memories are made. And then the day ends and we go our separate ways until we meet again.
But, was there a heart amongst the crowd longing for more? A heart desiring that special feeling to happen at their gatherings. A desire to have all present with no resentment. A desire to be there just because of one another with no strings attached. Or maybe, just being able to remain in the same room because you have the same thoughts and likes would be nice. Gathering just for the fact that the day meant something and staying home was not an option.
What is the difference? There are a couple reasons.
Number one, a family that has God in the center shares His love.
Second, a house that is divided against itself, will fall. Luke 11:16
Bittersweet.

The news comes again shattering our hearts deep within,
For those who died at the hands of the enemies sin.

And now we mourn and fall to our knees,
begging our God, please, oh God please.

But where were you last week in the calm of your soul,
Were your knees bent then, praying for all?

Why is it that tragedy draws us to You,
why not everyday the whole year through?

Let us begin prayer time as a daily routine,
holding on to Your Word and all that You mean.

You told us to pray and seek Your face,
turning from sin and our wick ways.

Then You would hear from heaven forgiving our sins,
and heal our lands and our hearts within.

This poem sums it up, to bend a knee and to fall,
to pray for the nations and to pray for us all.

When I doubt God's steadfast love for me,
may I quickly turn to
Psalm 36:57
"Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep'
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men
put their trust under the
shadow of Your wings."

Reading Leviticus this morning, chapter 8:22-24, Moses consecrated Aaron and his sons
right ears so they would hear the voice of God, their right thumbs so they would serve God
and right toes so they would walk in the path of God

Lord, cause my ears, hands and feet to be consecrated for You.
