A Special Day
Does a holiday fill you with temporary joy, everlasting memories or
brokenness from a lonely heart?
Or maybe all the above.
How blessed we are when we can gather with friends and family sharing special days. Gathering in laughter, a meal and treasured fellowship. Being together with varied thoughts and views, but with a common bond , one with another, a deep bond of genuine love. Entering the day with greetings of hugs and handshakes, with smiles and looks of surprise and with words of endearment. For that short but special day, humor abounds, life's happenings are up-dated and family is re-united. A day when hearts are filled with joy and life long memories are made. And then the day ends and we go our separate ways until we meet again.
But, was there a heart amongst the crowd longing for more? A heart desiring that special feeling to happen at their gatherings. A desire to have all present with no resentment. A desire to be there just because of one another with no strings attached. Or maybe, just being able to remain in the same room because you have the same thoughts and likes would be nice. Gathering just for the fact that the day meant something and staying home was not an option.
What is the difference? There are a couple reasons.
Number one, a family that has God in the center shares His love.
Second, a house that is divided against itself, will fall. Luke 11:16
Bittersweet.
